Covington Who's Who Selects Brian Henry Dimmitt as an Honored Member of the Executive and Professional Registry

- Champaign-Urbana, IL (1888PressRelease) March 28, 2014 - Brian Henry Dimmitt, who holds a BS in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Illinois, and is a certified cytotechnologist through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), began working for Carle Foundation Hospital in 2013 after spending a year in their cytotechnology education program.
As a cytologist, Mr. Dimmitt's responsibilities include screening gynecological and non-gynecological specimens primarily for cancer, but also for infections. He also performs rapid, on-site cell assessments for fine needle aspirations and assists the cytology department with specimen preparation and quality control statistics.
Crediting both his didactic education and his clinical education for his success in healthcare, Mr. Dimmit also contributes a big portion to his hands-on training and assistance from those he has the opportunity to work alongside at the hospital. Full of friendly, inspiring, and intelligent individuals from which he can learn a great deal, Carle Foundation Hospital strives to hire nothing but the best employees.
"One of the few things I knew was that once I finished my undergraduate education I wanted to help others," Mr. Dimmitt said, who has been inspired by his mother, as well as his grandmother who was a nurse. Hoping to work in the same setting for many more years, Mr. Dimmit aspires to work at a large, respectable hospital where he can continue to serve in cytology before moving on to a management position in healthcare. Notably, Mr. Dimmit is certified in both SurePath and ThinPrep morphology and is also certified by BD Diagnostics in use of Focal Point guided screenings. He is also on the decontamination team at Carle Foundation Hospital and was trained as a first receiver by DQE.
