Inspired by her own life, Betty M. Barton is undertaking a project that she hopes will develop into a television series highlighting deadbeat parents in order to help secure the necessary monetary resources to children and families they are rightfully entitled to. She hopes the series will bring the topic to light and also help deter other deadbeats from trying to escape their legal obligations of their children.
Having been an unfortunate victim of a deadbeat ex-spouse, Ms. Barton hopes to bring greater awareness to this significant societal issue. Because her new business is very new, she is doing the advertising, marketing, research, and providing the financial support to fund everything on her own. Though Ms. Barton has no formal training in the TV industry, she does have experience running her how business as well as managing one.
"My personal experience with this topic has dramatically shaped who I am and why I am doing this. The struggle I endured trying to provide for my family and bettering myself has made me very sympathetic to this cause," Ms. Barton said. "When my ex-husband left I had three children and was pregnant with our fourth child. I understand how difficult it can be for a parent to try and seek justice in our current system, and I was often told that if I didn't know where my ex-husband was that there was little the authorities could do about it."
