Covington Who's Who Selects Anna Maria Farias as a VIP Member of the Executive and Professional Registry

- San Antonio, TX (1888PressRelease) May 05, 2015 - Anna Maria Farias, Board of Regents Vice-Chair at Texas Women's University, has been selected as a VIP Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry.
Graduating with her Bachelor's Degree in Literature and Political Science with Honors from Boston University, Anna Maria Farias went on to pursue her JD at Temple Law School. Graduating in 1980, she was the third year class president. Working in federal government practicing personnel and labor law, she later became the chairman of the academics committee at Texas Women's University and now serves as their vice-chairman of the Board of Regents and chairman of the finance committee.
"I have served on boards where I have been able to contribute my 30 years of professional experience to help institutions and foundations achieve their mission," Ms. Farias said about her longevity in the field.
Hoping to serve as a mentor for young students wishing to attain similar career goals, Ms. Farias relied on her own mentor growing up, Boston University Professor, William J. Bennett, who made sure that she would never give up. Having grown up in housing projects as the daughter of a single mother who worked six-plus days a week, Ms. Farias would love to pay her knowledge forward to the next generation.
A fellow of Harvard JFK School of Government and former member of Phi Alpha Delta, Ms. Farias is the recipient of many awards, including a Young Alumni Achievement Award from Boston University and being inducted into the Women's Hall of Fame by the state of Texas's governor in 2000.
