Covington Who's Who Selects Amanda Barrett as a VIP Member of the Executive and Professional Registry

- Oklahoma City, OK (1888PressRelease) February 27, 2013 - Amanda Barrett, Adjunct Faculty at Northwestern Oklahoma State University (NWOSU), has been selected as an Honored Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Amanda Barrett's commitment to excellence in Higher Education.
After earning her Bachelor's of Science Degree in Business Administration from NWOSU in 1989 and spending nineteen years working for Autry Technology Center, Amanda Barrett decided she wanted to continue in the field of education. She pursued a Master's Degree in Adult Education Management and Administration from the same college, and completed it in 2011.
After earning her second degree, Barrett was asked to teach a course by the dean of Enid, NWOSU campus, Dr. Wayne McMillin, in research and classroom effectiveness.
She is teaching four of the six core courses in the Master's Degree in Adult Education Management and Administration Degree program. She teaches, coordinates lesson plans, develops classroom/online activities, assignments, and tests, and also utilizes the Blackboard® system for online curriculum/grading.
"As an educator, my educational philosophy is to develop an optimal learning environment that enriches the intellectual, personal, and social life of the student," Barrett said. "My personal philosophy as an educator is the student is the most important component to the educational facility and its community."
Barrett is a member of the Association for Career and Technical Education and the Oklahoma Association for Career and Technical Education. She is currently working toward obtaining her Oklahoma Standard Teaching Certification. Barrett will be able to test for her Oklahoma Principal's certification upon completion of the ODCTE Business and Computer certification. Her future entails teaching in education and pursuing her doctoral degree in higher education.
