Cosimo Co-Sponsoring the Praxis Economics of Sustainability Conference
Praxis Peace Institute Presents "The Economics of Sustainability" Conference on the Intersection of Economics and the Environment.
- San Francisco, CA (1888PressRelease) October 01, 2014 - Cosimo, Inc. a New York based specialty publisher, is proud to announce its co-sponsorship of the upcoming conference "The Economics of Sustainability", organized by California based Praxis Peace Institute. As volatile weather patterns continue throughout the world and this month has seen thousands of events from the United Nations to individual initiatives calling for action on climate change, Praxis Peace Institute, with a history of addressing some of the most relevant social challenges of our times, will be organizing a conference on climate change, the role of the current economic and political system, and how new models for technology and economics could create a sustainable economy for all.
The importance of this conference is clearly stated by Georgia Kelly, founder and executive director of Praxis:
"Today's climate crisis is the leading issue of our time. We have reached the point where we must take system wide action or risk planetary consequences for all life. The urgency of addressing this issue is the impetus for convening 'The Economics of Sustainability' Conference."
This conference will present a wide array of innovative economists, scientists, and experts on sustainability, the environment and energy. Among the speakers will be Gar Alperovitz, leading economist at the University of Maryland; Michael Brune, Executive Director of the Sierra Club; Richard Heinberg, one of world's leading experts on peak oil; David Korten, author of Agenda for a New Economy, Ellen Brown, expert on public banking and many others.
In addition to the various presentations and workshops, Georgia Kelly and sustainability expert Julianne Maurseth will moderate a discussion on Praxis' recently published book, Uncivil Liberties: Deconstructing Libertarianism. This book explains why libertarian philosophy thrives in today's society and what its risks are for a sustainable future.
The conference will take place from October 6 - 9, 2014 at the Fort Mason Center in San Francisco, California. For more information about the conference, topics, speakers, and how to register, please visit Praxis' events page at praxispeace.org/conference14.
