Corsican Wines Provide The London Experience At The Saatchi Gallery
CIVCORSE, the Corsican Wine Board, will represent seven estates from the French island of Corsica at The London Experience, which will take place at the Saatchi Gallery (in central London) from 26 to 27 October 2012. A wide range of organic and biodynamic wines will be available, and all the producers are seeking partners and distributors in the UK and Ireland.
- (1888PressRelease) October 17, 2012 - Guillaume Rodet, International Development Manager for CIVCORSE in the UK and Ireland, explains, "The UK, together with the Republic of Ireland, is a priority market for Corsican producers, who know that the unique flavour and insular authenticity of their products appeal to British and Irish professionals and consumers alike. Although Corsican wines are already widely distributed through trade channels and in up-scale restaurants in the UK, the producers are very excited to have the opportunity to display their wines to visitors at The London Experience."
The wines to be displayed on Table 10 at The London Experience from 26 to 27 October will be from seven Corsican estates - Clos Canarelli, Clos Culombu, Domaine Cordoliani, Domaine Santini, Domaine Sant'Armettu, Domaine De Tanella and Domaine Vico.
Corsica's wines are mainly made from indigenous Corsican grape varieties, i.e. Nielluccio, Sciaccarello and Vermentino. The wines that will be presented at The London Experience are all produced by independent winegrowers from different areas of Corsica.
The local viticulture not only benefits from the diverse geography of the island - including the mountains, valleys and plains that are all exposed to the Mediterranean sun - but also from the rich diversity of Corsica's soil. There is shale in the east, granite in the west, alluvial sediment in the middle, and limestone outcrops in the north and south of the island.
The London Experience, which will be held at the Saatchi Gallery, the prestigious venue situated near Sloane Square (in the heart of London), is being organised by Bettane+Dessauve in partnership with the French Trade Commission UBIFRANCE in London. There will be 80 French wine producers at the event, and the organisers are expecting 4,000 visitors. Visitors will include amateur wine lovers, trade professionals, wine critics, and media representatives from the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
The wine event will also feature a wide range of master classes (including The Pomerol Genius), along with wine-education workshops on various subjects (such as a comparison of different wine-growing regions, or an insight into the wine-making process).
Corsican wines are already available in the UK through a number of importers, resellers, agents and restaurateurs. Their details are listed below.
