Corporate Challenge Announces Team Building Program
The Global Corporate Challenge will continue accepting registrations for the successful 2011 team-walking program.
- (1888PressRelease) December 24, 2010 - The Global Corporate Challenge will continue accepting registrations for the successful 2011 team-walking program. In 2010, 100,000 participants from 800 companies and 65 countries entered the health-based corporate wellness initiative. The Corporate Challenge has proven to demonstrate the team building skills and employee interaction that advances the company's overall performance.
Each corporate team consists of seven members working together to accomplish a common goal or 10,000 steps per day, per participant. Upon registration, each participant receives two pedometers, which track their step count each day. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), the average worker takes just 3,500 steps per day. WHO indicates that there are significant health and wellness advantages for employees who take 10,000 steps per day.
In 2010, 90 percent of enrollees completed the Corporate Challenge. Among the corporate participants were Nestle (5,000 participants worldwide averaged 15,000 steps), Dolby (more than 50 percent of all employees participated) and WA UNI of Australia. For the entire program, participants accomplished 12,693 steps per day. In total, participants covered 45,782,485 miles.
Corporations reported many employees indicated improved sleep habits, higher energy levels and significant calorie and weight losses. More importantly, corporations continue to be pleased with the team-building skills that are necessary to complete the goal.
Most corporations engage the program in many ways. One popular corporate wellness day is the Corporate Challenge day. On this day, the company is organized to acknowledge their participants.
The 7-person teams will find creative ways to accomplish their goals. Steps can be accumulated through walking, jogging, cycling or swimming. Inevitably, unexpected barriers are presented. The team leader and the team members must find ways to overcome these obstacles.
There exist so many positive attributes in the Corporate Challenge walking program, that once a company is registered, they return each year. The Corporate Challenge has proven to be a win-win exercise for entrants.
