- Rochester, NY (1888PressRelease) October 18, 2013 - The Corn Hill Neighbors Association (CHNA) is excited to host an inaugural walk of the Corn Hill Historic Wellness Trail, on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 1pm.
"Corn Hill residents are proud of their historic neighborhood, and this trail celebrates just that," said Marty Petrella, Chairperson of the trail for CHNA.
"This project gives the entire community and neighbors an opportunity to get outside, explore and learn more about the rich history of Rochester's first residential neighborhood."
The trail creates a path between 10 historical locations that are marked with posts designed by artist Lee Kosow and topped with commemorative plaques.
The walk will begin at The Genesee River adjacent to the Water Spirits sculpture on Exchange Blvd. and Plymouth Ave. South. Guests who complete the Wegmans Passport to Wellness by checking into all 10 sites are entered for a chance to win a $100 Wegmans gift card. Booklets are available at the East Avenue Wegmans information desk, through Corn Hill Neighbors Association, online, and at the start of the event. Participants are asked to bring a pencil to complete the walk. Finished passports should be dropped off at the CHNA office located at 133 S. Fitzhugh Street to be entered in the drawing.
Wegmans partnered with CHNA on this project as part of its Passport to Family Wellness program. Representatives from Wegmans will offer healthy refreshments at the event.
"The goal of the Corn Hill Historic Wellness Trail is to encourage local residents to get moving and enjoy healthier, better lives," said Marcie Bartolotta, Wegmans Manager of the "Eat Well Live Well" community initiative.
Funds raised through Corn Hill Neighbors Association are used by the Association for a variety of community needs. The Association is able to provide low interest home improvement loans to its neighbors, as well as funding for PAC-TAC security programs to ensure safety in the community. Corn Hill funds are also used for protecting and promoting the historical character and beauty of the area. The Corn Hill Neighbors Association encourages cultural diversity, and strives to foster good relations not only within the neighborhood, but its surrounding communities as well.
