Corinne Garese's Figurative Paintings: Blending Classic and Modern Styles
Chelsea's Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Bordeaux artist Corinne Garese in The French Perspective: Contemporary Art from France. The exhibition runs through July 28th, 2016. Each figurative painting is executed with a sense of elegance and detail, and a strong emphasis on decorative elements inspired by trompe l'il. At the same time, her colors are luminous and compelling, often applied with a strong sense of contrast and dynamicism that speaks more to our post-modernist world.
A notable feature of Garese's work is her use of texture and brushstroke to set a mood and create a unique blend of traditional and modern motifs within the work. The artist explains her approach as such: "The oil paints on canvas bear a rich texture that allows for light strokes of the brush, sometime vague and others more pronounced. The touches of a putty knife give energy and modernity to my style." Corinne Garese currently lives and works in the southwest of France in Bordeaux.
