Katy Jessee, winner of Summer12 Project OR, used CORDURA® Ultra Lite Fabric in her design, a menswear inspired jacket for a Northweatern cruiser cyclist. Jessee was hand-chosen to compete in Project OR. The goal is to create a piece of outdoor clothing using only pre-selected materials. CORDURA® Fabric has won multiple times.
- Wichita, KS (1888PressRelease) August 30, 2012 - CORDURA® fabric was again a fabric of choice for the winning Project Outdoor Retailer (Project OR) design contest. Katy Jessee, a recent graduate of Missouri State University, created the 2012 Summer OR winning design. She selected CORDURA® Ultra Lite Fabric to complete the design of her menswear inspired jacket for a Northwestern cruiser cyclist.
"Project OR was an amazing experience. This was my first exposure to the outdoor industry and I am impressed by the people, the products and the passion behind it all. I love it," said Jessee. "I chose CORDURA® fabric for the hood and under-collar of my design because I wanted something waterproof, lightweight and durable. CORDURA® UltraLite fabric fit those needs. The fabric was very easy to work with and performed just as I hoped it would."
Specifically, Jessee used a brown CORDURA® UltraLite fabric from Korean mill Dong-Jin in a laminated 30x70d blended box ripstop construction.
Held at Outdoor Retailer Summer Marker 2012 (OR Show), Jessee was hand-chosen, along with five other students from the top design programs in the country, to compete in Project OR. The goal is to create a piece of outdoor recreational clothing using only pre-selected materials from participating suppliers in under 48 hours.
Once garments are complete, a panel of highly regarded judges in the outdoor industry announces the winner on the last day of the OR Show. Jessee also won a trip to OR Show 2013.
