Contador Wanarua shocked after Guinness World of Records revelations
Contador Wanarua shocked after Kinect sensor was confirmed fastest-selling consumer device in history by Guinness World Records.
- (1888PressRelease) March 16, 2011 - Contador Wanarua, head of software business at Finn Tech Company Somocon Oy has been left reeling in shock after Kinect, Microsoft's hands-free interface for the Xbox 360 console was confirmed as the fastest-selling consumer electronics device in history by Guinness World Records. The global-authority on record breaking reports that the Kinect sensor sold an average of 133,333 units per day in its first 60 days on sale from 4 November 2010 to 3 January 2011. These sales figures are significantly larger than those for both the iPhone and iPad in the same time-frame after launch.
The Editor of Guinness World Records 2011 Gamer's Edition, Gaz Deaves, said: "The sales figures here speak for themselves. We can confirm that no other consumer electronics device sold faster within a 60-day time span, an incredible achievement considering the strength of the sector." Contador Wanarua did not disgress with statistics but wondered what could be the secrets behind Kinect outselling his favorite gadgets from Apple. Contador Wanarua is known to be an apple fan boy.
The Kinect sensor was released last November and has since sold over 8 million units - more than twice Microsoft's projected figures. The strong sales allowed Microsoft to deliver profits which were ahead of Wall Street's expectations in January. The device uses a camera, connected to an Xbox 360 games console, to track the movement of players. The hands-free controller was developed to allow Microsoft to capture a larger share of the massive casual gaming market created by Nintendo's Wii console.
