Construction Leeds Stages Equality Act Workshops
More than 50 firms working in Leeds's construction sector have attended a series of workshops and seminars aimed at demystifying new legislation designed to end discrimination in the workplace.
- (1888PressRelease) December 04, 2010 - Construction Leeds, in partnership with the Equality Accreditation Services, staged the events to not only raise awareness of the new Equality Act, but how its implementation can help them grow their businesses.
An arm of regeneration charity re'new, Construction Leeds works with some of the UK's largest contractors operating in the city, as well as helping smaller businesses to grow and become more successful within the industry.
Construction Leeds Project Manager Rob Wolfe said: "These workshops and seminars were designed to fully inform SMEs about new equality laws and how the legislation can actually help boost business.
"We had more than 50 people attend the sessions and, because of their popularity, we will be running more in the New Year."
Equality Accreditation Services Chief Executive officer, Vivienne Duke said: "We have been working in partnership with Construction Leeds for a number of months now and, as an organisation, it understands the importance of these laws in the construction industry.
"I'm delighted so many took part in the sessions and the feedback from attendees was extremely positive."
