Connecting With the Future Thru Education
Parent Choices for Struggling Teens internet talk radio show talked about how education will look in the future. Parents will need to be more assertive in choosing their child's education.
- (1888PressRelease) July 19, 2011 - "Parents are still the key to the success of students," asserted Brandi Elliott and Kimball De LaMare on Parent Choices for Struggling Teens, Internet talk radio Monday July 11, 2011 on LATalkRadio.com
"Despite the development of a class of professional educators the last century taking on many of the functions parents used to perform," explained Elliott and De Lemar, "parents still have a major responsibility and ability to help their children succeed in school."
Several trends in our society that Elliott and DeLaMare identified that will impact how education will look in the future, are not only parents being more assertive in choosing their child's education, but also the advantages and dark side of online education, the social media, and massive changes currently happening in Education such as Charter School, Vouchers, and smaller schools.
Regarding Special Needs schools for students who are struggling behaviorally and emotionally, the increase in psychological and developmental knowledge from brain research, and the ability to individualize instruction will give parents and teachers the ability to construct an educational experience unique to each child, better meeting his/her needs.
"All this developing knowledge will increase choices parents have and can lead to their confusion," pointed out Elliott and DeLaMare, "unless methods and professionals are found to help parents sort out what is important and unimportant to their decisions regarding their children.
