Congratulations Gord Procyk, Expert Driver for Jay's Moving and Storage on His Win at Saskatchewan's Provincial Driving Competition
Gord Procyk, one of Jay's professional drivers, wins a driving competition and qualifies to represent Saskatchewan at the 2012 National Truck Driving Championships.
- (1888PressRelease) September 19, 2012 - What do professional truck drivers do during their spare time? Well, some of them compete against other drivers, honing their skills to improve efficiency and safety on our roads, and just maybe for the bragging rights!
Jay's Moving and Storage would like to congratulate on of their drivers, Gord Procyk for his recent victory at the Saskatchewan Trucking Associations' Provincial Championships. This year's competition took place at the Regina Food Bank. The public was invited to attend and bring non-perishable food items in support of the food bank.
Gord placed first in the B-train category, one of five competition classes pitting the truck drivers against the clock (and each other) in completing various maneuvers around a 10-station 'obstacle' course. Stopping/clearance distances, safety components, a serpentine course, backing into alley docks, and diminishing clearance were some of the challenges competitors faced.
His performance at Provincials qualifies Gord, along with four other team members to represent Saskatchewan at the National Truck Driving Championships being held in Moncton NB in September. The other team members are; Provincial Grand Champion Brian Weslowski, Top Rookie Stephen Schwenker, Richard Easton, who placed first in the Single/Tandem group and Larry Radons, the lone entrant in the Straight Truck category.
Jay's Moving and Storage considers competitive events like these to be valuable contributors to industry pride and safety and encourages participation from their drivers. We will be cheering for all members of our Provincial team as they compete agains teams from all across Canada at the National Championships.
