Concrete Countertop Training Planned for February 2013 in Sydney, Australia
The Concrete Countertop Institute announced a 5-day intensive "The Ultimate Concrete Countertop Training" course to be held February 25 to March 1, 2013 in Sydney, Australia. Jeff Girard, President, and Lane Mangum, VP Business Services, of The Concrete Countertop Institute, will teach the course. Domenic Scarpari of Domcrete will host the course at his facility in Penrith.
- Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) November 29, 2012 - The Concrete Countertop Institute has announced that it will hold its 5-day intensive "The Ultimate Concrete Countertop Training" course February 25 to March 1 in Sydney, Australia.
The course will cover:
All of the technical fundamentals of concrete countertop construction including templating, form building, seam layout, reinforcing, mix design, curing, polishing, sealing and installation.
Simple, from-scratch mix designs for both precast and glass fibre reinforced concrete (GFRC) that achieve compressive strengths of over 4000 PSI in 1 day, 6200 PSI in 3 days, and 8200 PSI in 7 days. Although these mix designs have only a few ingredients, mix calculators are provided.
Design instruction that enables contractors to create a broad range of effects using pigments, decorative aggregates, edge forms, custom sink molds, acid staining, grinding and polishing.
Sales and marketing training in pricing, sales techniques, profit maximization and more.
Jeff Girard, President, and Lane Mangum, VP Business Services, of The Concrete Countertop Institute, will teach the course. According to Jeff, "The Australian market for concrete countertops is where the U.S. market was several years ago. The opportunity is wide open for contractors to get into a growing niche. By bringing in-depth training to Australia, I want to help contractors take advantage of this market opportunity with a solid foundation of knowledge. As always with my classes, I will teach not just how, but why."

Domenic is a long-time decorative concrete professional and a graduate of The Concrete Countertop Institute's Ultimate and Advanced courses in the U.S. Domenic explains, "After attending the courses in the U.S., I realized that there is a huge need for this level of quality training in Australia. Concrete benchtops are set to explode, but contractors lack both training resources and material and equipment resources. That's why I'm bringing Jeff and Lane over and gathering all the supplies contractors will need, from local sources whenever possible to get the best prices. Students will leave with not only the knowledge and confidence they need to be successful, but also the tools and materials they need. That was one of the biggest struggles for me after attending the courses."
The course is limited to 12 students. At press time, 9 students were signed up. No experience is necessary, but an interview is required for admission to the course.
