Conclave to discuss the role of the Chief Digital Officer
Today's customers demand seamless experiences across platforms be it digital or physical. Organizations are recognizing that they need sound strategies to achieve their goals whether its the smallest social media engagement or the biggest investments in e-Commerce. The best resource to drive digital excellence from conception to delivery is the Chief Digital Officer.
- (1888PressRelease) February 01, 2016 - Dubai, UAE - Traditionally, digital was thought to be part of the marketing function responsible for driving the organization's online presence. But the last two years has seen the rise of the Chief Digital Officer, a senior executive who sits at the right hand of the CEO and is seen as instrumental to the future of the organization. For many companies, especially those in the retail and leisure sectors, digital is the fastest- growing revenue stream, and a CDO is extremely important in driving that growth
In an era of digital disruption, Chief Digital Officer (CDO) is more important than ever in helping drive growth and an improved connection with customers as they are constantly using their digital resources. According to Jeff Bezos, founder, Amazon - "It's hard to find things that won't sell online."
Digital isn't only about purchasing online but also serves as a platform to deal with consumer redressal, mapping consumer behaviour, tracking competitor strategies and so on. There is a growing disconnect between CIOs and CMOs as organizations are focusing more on digital strategies. The CDOs come as saviors as they not only understand the digital opportunities but also understand cutting threats that hamper the growth of an organization as they are technologically stronger than their CMO & CIO counterparts.
According to Mckinsey&Company, CDO is now a "transformer in chief," charged with coordinating and managing comprehensive changes that address everything from updating how a company works to building out entirely new businesses. And he or she must make progress quickly.
There are now more than a thousand CDOs globally and the number has doubled every year for the last few years. Gartner predicted 25% of businesses would have a CDO by the end of 2015. The importance of the CDO is highlighted even more when you see that 60% of CIOs in global organisations will be replaced by CDOs by 2020 (IDC research)
According to Gartner, the Chief Digital Officer will be the most exciting strategic role in the decade ahead and IT leaders have the opportunity to be the leaders who will define it.
