What: New Retail Activity in Downtown Compton: Grand Openings Underway!
The Compton Community Redevelopment Agency is pleased to announce the grand opening of new retailers in North Downtown Compton. As the community undergoes revitalization, new retailers are embracing the wealth of opportunities Compton brings, while providing Compton residents with diversified retail options and valuable jobs for the community. The Agency is committed to increasing viable retail options for the residents of the City of Compton, by working to enhance and increase economic development throughout the North Downtown Compton and throughout the City of Compton.
A seasonal Toys 'R Us is Now Open in the Compton Town Centre, located at 200- E Compton Blvd. Toys 'R Us store services the local community, by providing options for toys for our young residents and viable retail options for shoppers, keeping valuable sales tax revenue within the city limits. Toys 'R Us was founded in 1948 and is the largest toy retailer in the United States, providing fun for Americans for decades. Young residents and parents will be excited to visit the store, which offers great toys at great prices!
The Burlington Coat Factory is slated to open on October 29, 2010. Burlington Coat Factory specializes in providing quality apparel and home goods at affordable prices. The Burlington Coat Factory store improvement was assisted by the Redevelopment Agency and will feature a new store front design that will only be found in the City of Compton! Compton CareerLink provided employment screening and coordinated interviews for over 300 Compton residents! Of the 100 available positions, 52 Compton residents were hired!
The Happy Sweet Bakery is scheduled to open on November 4, 2010, in the Compton Town Centre, located at 200- E Compton Blvd. Happy Sweets will be offering high quality food and beverages at affordable prices for Compton residents. The bakery offers a vast variety of dining options ranging from premium baked goods, ice cream, savory sandwiches and other lunch and dinner items. Happy Sweet specializes in freshly-prepared baked goods and lunches made only with the highest quality ingredients. Happy Sweet's menu is full of delicious food, promising to entice the cravings of Compton residents for years to come.
