Composer-Musician Chris Walden to Celebrate Grammy Nomination With Holiday Concert and Special Guests
Performances include Walden's Grammy nominated arrangement of the Seth MacFarlane & Calabria Foti song "Let's Fall in Love" with the Chris Walden Big Band at the Catalina Jazz Club, Sunday, December 22.
- Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) December 19, 2013 - Grammy-nominated composer/musician Chris Walden will be playing a number of his songs with the Chris Walden Big Band at Hollywood's famous Catalina Jazz Club, including his recent Grammy nominated arrangement "Let's Fall in Love" with Calabria Foti. A number of musical contemporaries will also take the stage with Walden to perform his arrangements, including actor Robert Davi singing his latest jazz tune "New York City Christmas," Rickey Minor playing The Tonight Show Theme With Jay Leno as well as Verve Music Group Chairman/songwriter/musician David Foster, who will sit in with the band to perform his XIV Olympic Winter Games theme.
Walden's arrangements are featured on Mary J. Blige's recent album, "A Mary Christmas," produced by David Foster, and on a previously unreleased Ray Charles vocal track for the Concord release of "Ray Charles Forever." Chris has also arranged and conducted for the recent albums of Matthew Morrison, produced by the late Phil Ramone, IL VOLO, and Michael Bublé.
Chris Walden's work has been heard by millions from his arrangement of the James Bond segment at the 85th Annual Academy Awards, to the orchestral arrangement for Jennifer Hudson's performance at this year's Super Bowl, as well as Hudson's arrangement performed at the Grammys. Additionally, Walden has arranged for American Idol, Christina Aguilera, Usher, Aretha Franklin, David Foster, and Michael Bolton. Chris Walden's accomplishments include writing over 400 arrangements for symphonies worldwide, such as the Chicago Symphony, National Symphony Orchestra, and the West Australian Philharmonic. Chris served as musical director for the German Movie Awards Show, which led him to score several international films.
The German composer's U.S. debut release, "Home of My Heart," reached #10 on JazzWeek's chart and remained in the Top 50 for 17 weeks. In addition, Walden received two Grammy nominations for "Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album" and "Best Instrumental Arrangement" for "Cherokee." Recently, Walden's SYMPHONY No.1 "The Four Elements" recorded with the Hollywood Studio Symphony Orchestra and received two Grammy nominations for "Best Orchestral Performance" and "Best Classical Contemporary Composition."
In Germany, after studying classical and jazz composition at the University of Cologne, Walden went on to record and conduct with Germany's leading classical symphonies and most talented musicians, including clarinetist Sabine Meyer and pianist Myleene Klass. Since immigrating to the U.S. ten years ago, the German-born musician has built an illustrious career as a film composer/arranger and the creator of one of the leading west coast big bands, The Chris Walden Big Band.
