  • (1888PressRelease) February 16, 2012 - OBJECTIVE

Apple released its 2012 Apple Supplier Responsibility Report to a keen stakeholder base hungry to know more about the behind the scenes activity of this high profile, highly regarded brand. The Arab Spring has seen entire countries bring about political change for their people, Chinese workers have been kidnapped in host countries whilst working away on business, Cocoa has been in the news in the Ivory Coast due to Child Labour and economic uncertainty still stalks Europe.

Whilst everyone has a view on Apple's products, there are common elements that apply in all cases, and this is that news travels fast, events are beamed around the World in minutes and companies need to be aware of the social risks in their overseas businesses and supply chain and to stop social issues from becoming a severe reputational risk. Companies need to ensure that all of the elements of their supply chain and footprint are attended to.

The webinar will draw upon the wide stakeholder comments based on the Apple Supplier Responsibility Report and will consider developments such as the ISO26000 guidance framework and how these are shaping, how companies view the risks in their supplier management program. The increasingly turbulent nature of political stability also provides companies with added risks on how they view social responsibility in their supplier management strategy. All these factors are converging together to challenge businesses like never before on how they address these significant risks.
