Community Investment Strategies Expands Amenities with On-Site Health Services at Senior Communities

- Trenton-Ewing, NJ (1888PressRelease) September 30, 2011 - Community Investment Strategies (CIS), Inc., the developer, builder and property manager of market-rate and affordable apartment-rental communities throughout New Jersey, is expanding its amenities with the addition of health-related services provided by Care Strategies LLC, its affiliate. The program offers customized wellness and care options, based on individual need or preferences, to address the evolving needs of today's active older adults.
"Our tenants have peace of mind knowing they have the option of remaining in their own apartment home, to recover from or manage an illness or injury, while retaining their independence," said Mary Ann Barbato, Care Strategies' vice president. "We are able to fill the health and wellness gap with supportive services, often associated with an assisted living facility, that are within the financial means of our tenants."
Care Strategies' on-site services include health monitoring by a registered nurse; management of chronic conditions, such as asthma and diabetes; nutrition monitoring and counseling; assistance with tasks of daily living, including personal care; housekeeping and laundry; shopping escorts; activities; coordination of medical appointments; and scheduled transportation. A registered nurse will assess and oversee each individual's health service needs and plan of care, which is developed in collaboration with the tenant, their family members and their personal physician.
"Tenants at CIS' affordable senior housing complexes and similar low-to-moderate income communities typically do not have the financial means to reside at an assisted living facility, with monthly fees that can exceed $6,000," said Barbato. "We offer an innovative solution for at-home senior care by addressing a major public-health issue. Our goal is to fill the care gap in a population that is living longer, healthier, more independent lives." She also noted services are not dictated by a person's assets. Rather, they are based on need and each individual's wishes.
Care Strategies also provides a team of competent staff including administrative oversight, certified aides and certified medication technicians who will be on-site to ensure quality care and service delivery to all participants on the program. Billing is handled directly by the company, through Medicare and Medicaid. In many instances, residents can qualify for assistance with all costs covered by Medicaid.
Known for its first-class, club-like offerings, CIS has incorporated this latest amenity at Heritage Village at Seabreeze in Forked River, Heritage Village at Elton Corner in Freehold Township and Heritage Village at Lambertville in Lambertville. Each newly constructed affordable senior community features spacious, modern apartment layouts; Energy Star-rated appliances; a community room; planned on-site social and recreational activities; a fitness center; health and wellness center; computer center; library; and laundry facilities.
