(1888PressRelease) September 17, 2022 - Following her success as a finalist in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Beacons Song for the Commonwealth Competition, Rodrica Rudge was asked by The Commonwealth Resounds to provide lyrics for their official commemorative song for Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

Rodrica is a composer and lyricist from the UK. Her work has received recognition in songwriting competitions and has received radio airplay across the world. Rodrica worked alongside collaborators on the song, entitled ‘Majesty’ - the music was composed by Paul Whitfield, and it was performed, arranged and recorded by The Purcell School for Young Musicians under the guidance of Musical Commonwealth Consultant Alison Cox OBE.

The Commonwealth Resounds is an officially accredited Commonwealth musical organisation which was established in 2005. Their objective is to connect musical cultures, and to promote initiatives and partnerships in Commonwealth countries. They have a special focus upon music education, composition, and have been involved in the music for special Royal occasions.

The Purcell School for Young Musicians is based in Hertfordshire and is the oldest specialist music school in England. There are around 180 pupils from multi-cultural backgrounds aged between 10-18. Some of the talented young singers, players and composers worked together with admirable composure and dedication alongside Rodrica Rudge and Paul Whitfield to help create a fitting and emotional tribute to Her Majesty The Queen.

The Commonwealth Resounds described ‘Majesty’ as a “beautiful” song and Rodrica Rudge said she was “honoured to write a tribute to Her Majesty and privileged to work with a team of such talented and devoted composers, producers and performers”.
