Cominda Academy Launches Products and Services for Kids to Learn Chinese at Home
Kids can now learn Chinese at home with books and Youtube lessons or Skype lessons offered by Cominda Academy.
- (1888PressRelease) July 26, 2013 - Cominda Academy has announced its leveled curriculum and accompanying services for elementary school kids to learn Chinese at home. The curriculum comes with pre-recorded online video lessons for kids to practice at home. Private Skype lessons with a learning coach are also available.
The curriculum evolves around an imaginary place called Howdy Town. Each level has a vocabulary of around 300 words, and lasts for three semesters (fall, winter, and spring). All lessons come with exercises and word games. With the exception of Beginner Level, there is daily reading after each lesson, and summer reading in the end of each book.
The Beginner Level uses very simple rhyme and sentences to introduce Chinese to someone new to the language. Students will learn to trace Chinese characters. Level I uses rhymes to introduce the basic vocabulary. Students will learn to write Chinese words. Level II is about field trips to a zoo and a botanical garden. Students will write short sentences. Level III is about a hot-air balloon ride. Students will write small paragraphs. Level IV is about a school remodeling and family discussion. Students will write a few paragraphs. Level V includes biography, poetry, instructions, directions, flyers, etc. Students will write small articles.
The company's learning coaches are stellar bilingual students or young alumni from top colleges. For those interested, the Skype lesson offers a great way of learning in a comfortable home environment with flexibility and extra guidance and support.
"This vigorous yet fun-filled curriculum will lay a solid foundation of Chinese for kids," said Karen Jia, Cominda Academy's founder and director. "Kids can also sign up with a learning coach for private lessons conducted via Skype. This will provide the support and reinforcement for those who need it.
"The lessons are so easy to read and remember," said Wendy Ding, whose son is on the Beginner Level now, "because they're relevant to everyday life and very funny. We especially love those rhyming phrases. My son and I laugh together over them."
Cominda Academy specializes in language learning for elementary school kids. The company offers leveled Chinese curriculum with accompanying services for kids to learn Chinese at home. The company has also developed a patent-pending Creative Writing program called Story Baker.
