Come Discover Romance at the Monterey Symphony Opening Performance of the 2013/2014 Season October 18 - 20
Mark your calendars and join Music Director & Conductor, Max Bragado-Darman for a journey of romance at the opening of the Monterey Symphony season.
- Salinas, CA (1888PressRelease) October 13, 2013 - The 68th season of the Monterey Symphony invites you to discover the Romantic Period of the Symphony at Steinbeck Institute for Arts and Culture at Sherwood Hall in Salinas and Sunset Center in Carmel-by-the-Sea. For his 9th season with the orchestra Music Director & Conductor, Max Bragado-Darman will take the audience on a journey of romance for the opening concert of the 2013/2014 Season, October 18 - 20!
The old saying "in like a lion, out like a lamb" may hold true for March weather, but for Romantic orchestral works, it's quite the opposite. Setting classical rules aside, Romantic music in general was longer than its predecessors, larger in orchestration, and more in touch with human emotion. The Classical period symphony established firm rules and musical boundaries, while the Romantics mercilessly and unapologetically smashed almost every single one. And never before has smashing sounded so good … discover what musical romance is all about at the Monterey Symphony Season Opening.
