Born in Angola and then raised in France, who can speak and sing in Portuguese, with the rhythms of Brazil oozing from her - Lucia de Carvalho is a multi-talented woman brimming with marvelous music from the isles with a contemporary twist. Best of all, she is just beginning and we're with her for the long haul.
'Since childhood music was my daily rhythm. At home we sang all the time, at the church, the street market… joy, sadness - everything was an excuse to sing!' Lucia shares.
However, it wasn't singing that Lucia did. She was actually a member of the dancing group Som Brazil, which grooves to Brazilian traditional music. When a lead singer of a band left, Lucia was the replacement - and she stayed with them for seven years. From there, Lucia was a rising star, headlining performances in the local scene of Alsace, such as Mac Bischwiller, the Iliad, and the TJP. In 2002, Lucia debuted on a bigger stage of the Miss France pageant on TF1. In 2005 it was 50th anniversary of the Duke of Luxembourg, the Sabor de Samba festival in Offenburg which she had been part of several times. Lucia has also become the front act for premiere artists Funkn' Lata, Cesar, Zuco 103, and Olodum.
What has Lucia that makes her such a favorite performer in various festivals and grand events? She has sparkling charm, great energy, and her rhythmic music is just enthrallingly diverse and exciting. Now even London wants her, gracing local music haunts. She's already an international music artist but she's ready to go all around the world and back to keep on performing.
