  • Denver, CO (1888PressRelease) July 01, 2014 - The Motomarathon™ Association has scheduled the 2014 Colorado Motomarathon for September 5-8. "This is traditionally the best long weekend of the year here in the Central Rockies for motorcycle sport-touring," according to John Metzger, Motomarathon founder. "It's right after Labor Day, the kids are back in school, the Winnebagos are back in the barn, the roads are as gravel-free as they get, and it's still warm, dry and light."

Routemaster Bill Eakins of Butler Motorcycle Maps (www.butlermaps.com) has designed a route that takes advantage of the best twisty canyons and passes in a classic point-to-point format, starting in Boulder with night one in Paonia, night two in Steamboat, night three in Laramie, Wyo., and finishing back in Boulder on Monday evening, September 8th.

Initial rider's meeting takes place the evening of September 4 at 8pm at the Boulder start/stop point at the Casa Alvarez Mexican restaurant where Day 1 routes will be handed out.

For the $50 fee, participants will receive this year's highly coveted fleece vest, a Butler Colorado map highlighting the state's best paved motorcycle roads, and a copy of Metzger's Motorcycling Through Midlife, a new book that shows baby boomers how to manage the dangerous adolescent urges of "midlife crisis" through the author's personal journey on a motorcycle.

Motomarathon routes and checkpoints are kept secret until the night before each day's ride. Participants complete a series of self-recorded checkpoints using digital cameras to photograph their badge numbers at designated landmarks. For more information and hotel details for each night, visit www.motomarathon.com or call John Metzger at 303-641-1062.
