Colorado Hispanic Bar Association Awards Stephanie Villafuerte
The Colorado Hispanic Bar Association awarded Stephanie Villafuerte the 2011 Chris Miranda Outstanding Hispanic Lawyer Award for her commitment to the Hispanic community and for upholding the highest principles of the legal profession.
- (1888PressRelease) January 24, 2012 - The granddaughter of Mexican immigrants, Villafuerte has championed the causes of women, children and the Hispanic community throughout her legal career. She currently serves as the Executive Director of the Rocky Mountain Childrens Law Center, a nonprofit law firm that protects abused and neglected children.
Villafuerte is well known for her public service work. She worked for fifteen years prosecuting crimes committed against women and children. She also lectured state-wide and nationally on child abuse and domestic violence issues.
Villafuerte is known for championing the causes of the Latino Community. Villafuerte served as Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Bill Ritter, Jr. In that capacity she served as outreach coordinator between the Governors Office and the Latino community.
Stephanie Villafuerte advocated on behalf of the Latino community to ensure the community was well represented in the legal profession as well as on state boards and commissions. She has also mentored young Latina women on career issues and has served as a board member on the Denver Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
The Chris Miranda Outstanding Hispanic Lawyer Award is presented to an outstanding Hispanic attorney in practice more than five years who has shown a continual commitment to the Hispanic community and the principles of the legal profession.Other award winners honored at the Colorado Hispanic Bar Association annual dinner included Derek Blass, Keith Montoya, Hans Meyer and Honorable Gilbert Gutierrez.
