In the run up to the conference, SMi Group interviewed the key speakers who will be present at the event. Topics discussed throughout these pre-conference interviews include: the issues revolving around cold chain distribution, regulatory requirements and the future for cold chain within the pharma industry. SMi's exclusive interview series consists of the following:
• David Spillett, Key Account Director, World Courier
• Chris Wallace, International Supply Chain Director, Sanofi Genzyme
• Tom Grubb, Manager, Cold Chain Strategy, American Airlines Cargo
"My session will focus on a new industry initiative known as Direct-to-Patient (DTP), the key to this novel clinical trial model lies in patient convenience. No longer must patients travel potentially long distances to study sites to receive treatment. Instead, therapies are delivered to the patients home and either self-administered or administered by specially trained nurses in a homecare environment." - David Spillett from World Courier
Chris Wallace from Sanofi Genzyme will share his experience on ambient products' logistics in extreme-temperature zones and describe some of the specific challenges in emerging markets and how to overcome them.
The American Airlines manager of cold chain strategy, Tom Grubb, will be presenting on "Shipping Temperature Sensitive Products Via Airfreight", on the second day of the conference. Highlights from the presentation include an overview into how ground and warehouse employees deal with handling pharmaceutical products and an insight into the development of airfreight procedures.
