  • (1888PressRelease) March 16, 2011 - Producer Robert Galinsky recently confirmed his plans for the Broadway debut of COFFEE The Musical, scheduled for later this year. The announcement came as thousands of coffee enthusiasts gathered last month at the annual Coffee And Tea Festival NYC to hear songstress Jodi Katz (lead vocalist/dancer for Trans-Siberian Orchestra's North American Tour, back up performer for Bianca Ryan, Miley Cyrus, and Josh Groban) sing the show's title song, Hot Black Stuff. The musical will offer local and national coffee companies a unique opportunity for marketing and brand building.

COFFEE The Musical taps into current café culture and the social media frenzy that's connected to it. Set in a warm and inviting coffee shop, the show features dynamic multi-generational/multi-cultural characters, an original musical soundtrack, dancing, singing, topical coffee talk, love stories, and the preparation and enjoyment of coffee. For a limited time, Galinsky will be offering a menu of different sponsorship and marketing opportunities to coffee companies interested in becoming part of the show and promoting their coffee brand.

"Talk about thinking outside of the box, getting your brand linked to a Broadway show may just be the greatest marketing opportunity ever," said Lynda Calimano, producer of the annual Coffee And Tea Festival NYC and one of the consulting producers on the Broadway musical project. "Galinsky's show wants sponsors and coffee companies want to push their brands ahead of the pack. Imagine a coffee company having their product written into the script or visually showcased on stage. It is a win-win for all," Calimano added.

Coffee The Musical is anchored by Broadway veteran and TONY winning consulting producers: Terry Schnuck (Spring Awakening, Race, Superior Donuts), Andrew Asnes (The Color Purple, Legally Blonde), Mark Schoenfeld (Brooklyn), the Broadway casting team from Daryl Eisenberg Casting and Ray Kotcher (Senior Partner & CEO Ketchum PR). Robert Galinsky, co-writer Greg Kotcher and the musical team of Willie Wisely and Mike Ruekberg are leading the creative team. Galinsky's work has been featured on The VIEW, The Today Show, ABC Nightline News, BBC, in The Wall Street Journal and more. Mike Ruekberg's music figures prominently in the 2003 Adrien Brody film Dummy, and the opening song Years has developed a passionate following of its own thanks to cable TV, DVD rentals, and rampant distribution on the Internet. And most recently, Mike's Trail of Stars is playing 'round-the-clock on HGTV, as the soundtrack to HGTV's current "Start at Home" campaign. Wisely's work has been heard on the soundtracks of Scooby Doo 2 and Tromeo and Juliet in addition to receiving multiple pop music awards.

Galinsky and his team have raised enough funds to launch production and are enjoying the positive momentum of the project. "We are still looking for additional donations to be earmarked for the final mastering of the music and the costs of rehearsals and production of the first theatrical run," said Galinsky. "Being a part of an original musical production is a long and exciting journey and we're looking for supporters to pledge with us and connect with us through the KickStarter program we've launched," he added. Donations of as little as $1 to as much as $10,000 are rewarded with various incentives. Learn more and donate at: www.kickstarter.com/profile/coffee.
