CloudTran Raises Funds for Round of Financing
Technology investments are being made in Cloud Computing -- CloudTran gets cash to expand product line.
- (1888PressRelease) May 24, 2011 - Pleasanton, CA - CloudTran, a provider of transaction processing solutions for cloud computing, today announced it has secured new funding from a strategic partner. These funds will be used to fuel product development efforts, adding support for the 10gen MongoDB document-oriented database.
CloudTran offers the CloudTran Dynamic Transaction Manger™ product, which is software infrastructure used to easily create and run highly scalable applications. These applications, such as eCommerce websites, online games, and payment processing systems, must maintain fast response times despite potentially huge and un-planned user loads. CloudTran employs patent-pending technology that integrates in-memory data caches, providing fast access to data, and back-end data storage systems, providing long-term data persistence. Applications using CloudTran can handle up to 30-times greater workloads compared to using databases alone.
With this new funding, CloudTran intends to add support for the 10gen's MongoDB product, an open-source, document-oriented database. This integration can dramatically reduce the costs of operating large-scale applications by providing an alternative to expensive licensing of traditional databases. Support for MongoDB is expected to be released in the third quarter of this year.
"Mainstream IT organizations and SaaS vendors will find CloudTran to be an essential product in building scalable, transaction-oriented applications without specialized development skills," said Tom Henn, CEO and president, CloudTran. "We're pleased to be adding this new funding to expand our product offering."
