Cloud Linux Inc. Reaches Major Milestone and is Now Deployed on over 1000 Servers
Accelerated partner adoption rate brings 17 more partners in August.
- (1888PressRelease) September 15, 2010 - Ann Arbor, MI - Cloud Linux Inc., an innovative software company dedicated to serving the needs of hosting service providers, announces today that it has reached a major milestone and that CloudLinux is now deployed on over 1000 servers worldwide. This milestone was achieved in only eight months and is a result of rapid adoption from both shared web host service providers and datacenter partners. For example, since the launch of Cloud Linux in February 2010, such leading web hosts as UK2 and HostDime have signed up with CloudLinux. In addition, since launching, 44 datacenters joined the CloudLinux Partner Program with another 17 new datacenters joining the CloudLinux Partner Program in August alone.
Service provider partners recognize the value of CloudLinux technology, to provide more stable "crash proof" servers, and are offering it as "bundle" in their service plans. The operational and financial advantages of CloudLinux for both shared web hosts and the datacenter segments are key in driving accelerated adoption by all segments of the market. "We are pleased to see such rapid deployment of CloudLinux and thank our partners who have shown tremendous support and interest in our solution," states Igor Seletskiy, CEO and Founder of Cloud Linux Inc. "The LVE technology was specifically developed for this market to help reduce downtime and increase profitability. We are honored that so many of these companies trust us to introduce CloudLinux to their infrastructure."
A key problem that CloudLinux addresses is that while hosting providers often host hundreds or thousands of customers on one server, even with vigilant monitoring, a single customer can affect performance of the entire server adversely. CloudLinux technology allows service providers to control CPU resources at an individual tenant level, significantly improving stability and reliability of the server. Its cutting-edge technology, Lightweight Virtual Environment™
(LVE) offers service providers the ability to double the density on its servers while maintaining a high level of server stability. This lets service providers extract more performance per server, provides flexibility in management and better, faster updates. In addition, CloudLinux recently introduced a series of tools to help hosting providers gain more control over their server environments including:
Secure LVE (beta) extends LVE isolation to users with a virtualized file system. The file system will separate each user into its own environment, preventing one user from seeing any other users on the server. This creates a new level of security, making it much harder for hackers to attack, deface, or steal data from the shared web server.
MySQL Governor (beta) monitors MySQL users and restricts connectivity if they start using too many resources. The tool comes with a utility to see current usage giving unprecedented control and visibility over MySQL usage, significantly diminishing the number of support issues caused by MySQL abuse.
LVE wrappers are the set of tools that allow system administrators to run various users, programs & daemons within a Lightweight Virtual Environment. It provides control over system resources at the application level and prevents misbehaving programs running within the LVE from draining resources and slowing down or taking down the whole system.
Priced at a fraction of the cost of other options, Cloud Linux is becoming a popular choice among hosting services providers since it is proving to be efficient, profitable and effective at reducing operational downtime.
