Clifford Crane and Apollo Security Sales have designed the new reader to be usable with systems their clients already have in place. The reader is compatible with HID prox, HID iClass, and smart card readers. Apollo APACS software can be used to configure the device. Both online and offline modes are included. In online mode, the reader connects continually with the online database in APACS; in offline mode, the reader's stored database is used to make the access decision. When the reader is in offline mode, cardholder updates and event history are sent between the device and the APACS database at scheduled times over Wi-Fi connection.
Portable yet powerful, the new mobile security device by Clifford Crane and Apollo Security Sales downloads all access level data and cardholder information, allowing security to go anywhere. Upon scanning credentials, the mobile reader shows the access decision alongside customizable cardholder information. As with any standard reader, the handheld device sends events back to the APACS database. Events are sent immediately over Wi-Fi in online mode, or in offline mode, stored until a connection is available.
