- (1888PressRelease) September 08, 2012 - Croatian city of Pula is set to create history by hosting the first ever full sized ice hockey tournament - Arena Ice Fever Pula MMXII - inside its famous ancient Roman amphitheater. This ice hockey spectacle, which will bring modern day gladiators to a 2,000 year old Roman architectural wonder, will take place from September 14th to 16th.
City of Pula is no stranger to famous festivals and cultural events, such as Outlook and Dimensions music festivals, but its citizens are particularly proud of Arena Ice Fever Pula MMXII as this is the first time anyone attempted to place an ice rink inside such a historical masterpiece and during warm season. Additionally, city of Pula is proud that there were no technical difficulties in organizing the match within the walls of this important heritage site, almost as if the Romans foresaw the event two millennium ago and constructed the Arena so that the proportions of the amphitheater fit the proportions of a modern ice hockey rink perfectly.
Apart from the ice hockey games, all visitors will be able to skate right by the sea while one of the most attractive games will be the match with Russian ice hockey legends.
