  • (1888PressRelease) May 04, 2018 - Cancer is a random killer. It can strike any one of us at any time. Join the City of Miami Department of Fire-Rescue as they host more than a dozen recruitment drives to register potential bone marrow donors to benefit patients suffering from diseases like leukemia and lymphoma whom are in need of a marrow transplant.

The drives, held on behalf of Gift of Life Marrow Registry, will be from May 7-11, 2018, at various City of Miami fire-rescue stations. To find participating locations, visit giftoflife.org/events.

“We look forward to a new opportunity to share the wonderful benefits that Gift of Life has to offer our organization - education, volunteer network and the chance to become a marrow donor,” said City of Miami Department of Fire-Rescue Captain/FDSO Manuel Arango. “We are fully committed to raising public awareness about this cause, which will lead to a better quality of life and, our mission, to continue investing in the welfare of humanity here and abroad!”

Everyone is encouraged to participate in the drives. If you are between the ages of 18 and 45 and in general good health, you are eligible to be screened and join the worldwide registry for patients in need. A simple swab from the inside of your cheek is all it takes to determine if you are a match. All information is kept confidential.
