Citrin Cooperman Raises More Than $5,500 for American Cancer Society's 2012 Relay For Life Event
Philadelphia Accounting Firm Celebrates Partner's Victory over Cancer and is Named Top-Earning Team.
- Philadelphia, PA-NJ (1888PressRelease) July 14, 2012 - Citrin Cooperman's Philadelphia accounting, tax and business consulting firm fielded the top-earning team, Citrin Cooperman Cares, in the American Cancer Society's 2012 Relay For LifeŽ of Ocean City, N.J., which was held on June 22 and 23. Citrin Cooperman Cares raised more than $5,500 in the fight against cancer through its participation in the event. This year's walk held particular significance for the accounting firm, as team captain and Citrin Cooperman Partner Jeff Gittler, CPA, is looking forward to celebrating one year of being cancer-free in August.
"I hope that my success will be an inspiration for others who are similarly diagnosed," said Gittler. "There is a light at the end of the tunnel after a cancer diagnosis. I would like to thank my colleagues who participated in this year's Relay For Life, as well as the wonderful donors who helped us far exceed our fundraising goal of $1,000."
Gittler was also the top-earning participant, raising more than $2,100 in this year's event. In June 2011, he was awaiting surgery to treat kidney cancer. Today, thanks to an exceptional surgeon and the support of his family, friends and co-workers, Gittler is cancer-free.
Relay For Life provides an opportunity for people around the world to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost and fight back against the disease. At the event, teams camp out at a local high school, park or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Relay For Life is a 24-hour event in recognition of the fact that cancer never sleeps. Relay participants do not have to walk all night, but each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Citrin Cooperman Cares team members camped out at Ocean City High School, taking turns walking the track.
"Citrin Cooperman is proud to support the American Cancer Society and our own Jeff Gittler through the firm's participation in Relay For Life," said Philadelphia Managing Partner Mark S. Carrow, CPA, MST, who participated in the event. "We thank our team members and donors for their assistance this year, and look forward to supporting and participating in Relay 2013."
Gittler brings more than 30 years of experience to ensuring that Citrin Cooperman's work meets the highest standard levels. He is a member of the firm's Quality Control Group.
