  • Philadelphia, PA-NJ (1888PressRelease) February 15, 2012 - Terry Silver, CPA, CVA, CFF presented "Love or Money - Advising Divorced Clients," at Janney Montgomery Scott's 2012 Elite Financial Advisor Conference: Focus Forward. Silver, a partner with Philadelphia accounting, tax and business consulting firm Citrin Cooperman, joined Amy Goldstein, Esq., chairperson of the Family Law Group of Capehart Scatchard, in leading the well-attended breakout session during the conference. The three-day conference was held for Janney Montgomery Scott's top 100 financial advisors.

Silver and Goldstein's session addressed post-divorce payouts, alimony, structured equitable distributions, cohabitation, the warning signs of a divorce and the tax aspects of divorce. They also reviewed selecting and referring divorcing clients to reputable attorneys and accountants, highlighting the importance of each professional's expertise and experience.

"In addition to covering some of the crucial financial implications of divorce, one of the key messages that I wanted to convey was the importance of hiring an accountant who is both experienced and certified in business valuations," stated Silver. "The accountant should also be involved from the start of the matter, working together with the attorney and the financial planner throughout the case - in order to protect the client thoroughly."

Silver possesses more than 33 years of experience as an accountant, auditor and business consultant. His areas of concentration include business valuation and forensic accounting services, expert testimony and advising clients on a range of tax issues and opportunities. Silver also assists clients with contract review, negotiation and merger and acquisition structure.

A member of the AICPA, PICPA and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA), Silver is accredited in business valuation (CVA) through the NACVA and in forensic accounting (CFF) through the AICPA.
