CIMCON Lighting Awarded ELEXON Approval for Its "Central Management System" for Outdoor Lighting Control
LightingGale™ meets Great Britain's most stringent electricity trading codes.
- (1888PressRelease) April 09, 2013 - Boston, Massachusetts and London, UK: CIMCON Lighting, the world's leading provider of intelligent, centralized Wireless Outdoor Lighting Management Systems, today announced that the United Kingdom's Supplier Volume Allocation Group (SVG), has approved its LightingGale™ centralized Street Light Management System under the UK's "Balancing and Settlement Code" (BSC) for use in Settlement. Earlier ELEXON had completed the testing process for CIMCON's LightingGale CMS, and invited the SVG to approve it. Administered by ELEXON, the BSC defines and governs the "balancing mechanism and imbalance settlement processes" for electricity in the Great Britain, and is vital to the successful operation of Great Britain's electricity trading agreements.
With an excellent track record in the United States and as the recipient of the Middle East Electricity "2012 Technology and Innovation Award", application for ELEXON approval was a logical fit as the company expands its footprint into Europe. To be accepted under the Balancing and Settlement Code (BCS) and duly recognized by the organization's "Supplier Volume Allocation Group" (SVG), which is responsible for the oversight of the "Supplier Volume Allocations" processes and systems, helps to solidify CIMCON's global leadership position in centralized, intelligent wireless street light management.
To obtain ELEXON approval, LightingGale, was required to demonstrate within an actual testing scenario that it could meet the following ELEXON requirements:
1) Secured access to data/system
2) Synchronization with Universal Time Controller (UTC)
3) Precise inventory control information
4) Operational switching and Power control, and its recording in the system
5) Generation of an event log for billing/total power consumption.
"CIMCON Lighting is very pleased to have received ELEXON's approval for the United Kingdom's 'Balancing and Settlement' code," said Anil Agrawal, Director. "This approval clearly reinforces that CIMCON's LightingGale centralized, intelligent outdoor wireless control system has global appeal and that it can make a major impact in reducing street light energy and maintenance costs, as well as CO2 emissions, all important for today's need for fiscal and environmental efficiency by boroughs, councils, cities, towns, municipalities and utilities.
