CIHL's RBC Adopt a School Program Creates Young Hockey Fans
Having welcomed schools from across Hong Kong earlier this year to take part in its exciting brand of elite ice hockey, the CIHL RBC Adopt a School program continues to build on the success it found in its opening year, with Hong Kong students of all ages taking part in CIHL game nights.
- (1888PressRelease) December 08, 2012 - As the first half of the season winds down this weekend, the CIHL is already looking forward to the second half of the 2012-2013 season and a flurry of activity in the dedicated CIHL RBC Adopt a School section.
The CIHL's core commitment is to developing Hong Kong's next generation of ice hockey players and, with the support league sponsor Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), the CIHL created a platform for students to gain exposure to Hong Kong ice hockey. Every week a school is invited to join a double-header CIHL game night, with complimentary tickets provided by RBC. Select students are invited to take part in the Disney Shootout, with prizes courtesy of Disney, while customized programs allow students to gain further hockey knowledge. CIHL players are heavily involved with the program and sit with students to help explain the game and promote the sport.
Commented CIHL co-founder and director Greg Smyth: "We're delighted to again offer the RBC Adopt a School program to schools and students across Hong Kong. The program is truly unique in Asia, offering students a great way to connect and learn about a sport that offers so much to us. Through the program we hope to inspire students of all ages to become further involved in Hong Kong ice hockey and all sports in general."
While many schools are booked in for the second half of the season, select dates are still available for interested schools. All schools interested in taking part in the RBC Adopt a School program are asked to contact Ricky at ricky ( @ ) cihl dot com for further details dot The full CIHL schedule is available at www dot cihl dot com/schedule dot php, with all game nights taking place at Mega Ice on the 10/F in Kowloon Bay dot

Said Smyth: "The RBC Adopt a School program is one of the CIHL's cornerstone programs and we invite schools from across Hong Kong to join us for what we expect to be an exciting and intensely competitive second half of the season."

All games are played at Mega Ice, with a game format of three, 12-minute periods of five-on-five hockey.
