Church of Scientology’s Scouts Troop 313 Hold Final Court of Honor for 2019
Church of Scientology's Troop 313 holds the final court of honor for 2019 awarding an extraordinary number of merit badges to scouts.
- (1888PressRelease) November 22, 2019 - Clearwater, FL – On Monday, November 18, Scout Troop 313 chartered by the Church of Scientology Flag Service Organization held their last Court of Honor for 2019. Scouts were awarded merit badges and rank advancements for the last six months.
The Court of Honor ceremony began with a Flag Ceremony and Pledge of Allegiance. As is tradition, Scouts lit 12 candles, representing the 12 points of Scout Law, and 3 more candles representing the 3 parts of the Scout Oath.
The Court of Honor is the ceremony held by each troop to honor the Scouts’ achievements in both community service and the enhancement of their practical survival skills.
Ten Scouts were formally recognized with rank advancements and twenty-two merit badges were given to those meeting the requirements. When awarded their newly-earned ranks, the Scouts were given a pin for their parents as a show of gratitude for their help in achieving the rank. Merit badges such as fire safety, swimming, and camping were then distributed to each Scout who earned them.
Following Troop 313 tradition, Matthew Trainor - who made the most progress in his Scouts Manual - was awarded a refurbished hatchet for his camping kit. The tool was restored and personalized by one of the adult leaders.
“We see the boys become more and more competent meeting after meeting,” said Clemence Chevrot, Community Affairs Director for the Church of Scientology Flag Service Organization. “They are more active in their community, do more volunteer work and overall are able to handle life. It is great to see them moving up their ranks to Eagle Scout.”
Troop 313 is open to children of any faith, as is any troop of the BSA program. Scouts are encouraged to be faithful and loyal, as laid out in the Scout Oath and Law.
Troop 313 has held their weekly meeting inside the Clearwater Community Volunteers Center since its opening. The center provides the venue, catering, and equipment as a complimentary service to the Scouts, as it does to all the non-profit groups that it works with.
