  • (1888PressRelease) August 01, 2016 - Clearwater, FL - On the 30th of July 2016, downtown Clearwater celebrated the dog days of summer with a Dog Fashion Show at downtown's Fort Harrison Park. Produced by the animal support organization Fancy Paws, local residents and their 'best friends' came out to support the Humane Society of Tampa. The evening included live entertainment, food, vendors and autographs from members of the Tampa Bay Storm arena football team.

Taking the podium at the start of the show, Tina Cox, the Executive Director of Fancy Paws, thanked the sponsors of the event, which included AJ's Snowballs, MJ's Waterhole and Sports Bar, Organo Gold, Seabee's Air Conditioning and Heating, Sweet Tomatoes of Palm Harbor, artist Eckwood Ellison, Dymond Management PR Agency, the Church of Scientology and United for Human Rights.

Ms. Cox spoke about the Humane Society and her own dedication to furthering their mission.

"I speak about responsibility today because we need to take responsibility for animals. The Humane Society's adoption programs, veterinary services, community outreach efforts and volunteer opportunities are essential to the health and well being of animals across Tampa Bay. The least we can do is support them in their endeavors," said Ms. Cox.

Ten dogs then took to the catwalk with their owners. The assembled audience cheered on their favorites, who wore a variety of costumes, including tutu's, bowties and swim suits, just to name a few. Breeds included chihuahuas, a papillon, a rat terrier, a bassett hound, Yorkie Poodle and a pomeranian.

At the end of the fashion show, the crowd helped the judges pick the winners for Best Dressed. Three winners were selected and the winners were:
    1st Place: Tinker the Chihuahua
    2nd Place: Tribble the Pomeranian
3rd Place: Lola the Bassett Hound

"That was a lot of fun! All the dogs were very cute and I am glad I could come to support such a great cause. I know that the donations will be put to good use in saving the lives of more animals," said the owner of a winning dog.

The Humane Society of Tampa is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that has been caring for animals and the community for more than 100 years. Not just an adoption agency, the Humane Society of Tampa provides life-saving care and services to help keep pets and people together.
