Church of Scientology Participates in Faith Day on the Hill
Faith Day on the Hill promised community, fellowship, learning and action, but delivered far more.
- (1888PressRelease) March 21, 2013 - Faith groups came together at the Tennessee State Capitol Tuesday to discuss topics of burning interest to all: education, health care, violence, jobs and the prison system. Not only did they discuss these issues but also got to know one another so that together as a unified force they could look at how to resolve the problems facing their state.
Mormon, Jew, Sikh, Muslim, Scientologist, Baha'i, Catholic and more were on the Hill together participating in the day long session. Church of Scientology Pastor Brian Fesler said, "Faith Day was an opportunity for everyone to really get to know one another for real so we can work together."
Rev. Fesler participated in the planning committee for the event, along with members of the Baha'i, Muslim, Methodist, AME and other faith communities. State Representative Brenda Gilmore led the committee and hosted the event. She said, "As a Legislator, it is empowering knowing that preachers, pastors, faith leaders and church congregants are praying for us to make good Godly decisions every day that will improve the quality of life for all Tennesseans."
Each topic of the day was followed by a prayer delivered by a religious leader from the area.
Speakers for the event included: Dr. Michele Gourley (Tenn. Dept. of Health), Commissioner Kevin Huffman (Tenn. Dept. of Education), Commissioner Derrick D. Schofield (Tenn. Dept. of Corrections), Ted Townsend (Tenn. Dept. of Economic and Community Development), Richard Moore (Tennessee Bureau of Investigation) and leaders from many faiths.
Faith Day on the Hill is an annual event in Spring. For more information, email rccnashville ( @ ) gmail dot com.
