  • Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, FL (1888PressRelease) October 01, 2013 - On Tuesday, October 8th, the Church of Scientology of Tampa will be hosting the East Coast Golden Age Theater for a theatrical presentation of "The Tomb of the Ten Thousand Dead" by L. Ron Hubbard. Doors open at 6, with the show starting at 6:30. Refreshments will be served and there is no cost to attend.

Originally written in 1936, "Tomb of the Ten Thousand Dead" is the story of Captain Gordon, the only survivor of an archeological expedition that goes completely awry.

"I have been asked to tell this story a hundred times," says Captain Gordon to open the story. "I have only told it once-to the British government, when they were quizzing me about the slaughter of the Lancaster-Mallard Expedition to Makran, Baluchistan. My part was a major one only because I was the only man who escaped with his life."

Originally written in 1936, the story was published in "Thrilling Adventures" Magazine, one of the popular pulp fiction magazines of the time. The audiobook version of the story has recently won an International Book Award and is an AudioFile Earphones Award Winner.

In their review of the story, Booklist wrote "'The Tomb of the Ten Thousand Dead' has a very strong Indiana Jones feel to it, even though it predates Indy by nearly five decades."

This live, multi-cast presentation includes actors Josh Greenberg, Colin Taufer, Dylan and Eric Cefail, and Alejandro Licea. The show is directed by theater veteran Kathy Sweigart. Movie quality sound effects and music are also used to make the presentation reminiscent of a 1930's radio show.

The East Coast Golden Age Theater is producing the show. The troupe has performed L. Ron Hubbard fiction stories throughout the Tampa Bay area, including for the Boys and Girls of the Suncoast.

"As producer of the East Coast Golden Age Theater, I am very excited to bring the unique form of entertainment - dramatic reading - to Tampa," said Joanie Sigal. "This short story by L Ron Hubbard lends itself to this type of dramatic rendition. There will be surprises!"

"The Tomb of the Ten Thousand Dead" is one of 153 tales being published as the Stories from the Golden Age written by Hubbard in the 1930s and 40s-in genres ranging from Mystery to Thriller, Science Fiction and Fantasy to Adventure and Western, using his own and fifteen pen names-widely considered America's Golden Age of Fiction.

If you would like to confirm a seat for the show on the 8th, please call Mimi Kintzel at 813-872-0722.
