(1888PressRelease) July 01, 2013 - On June 22nd, Mayor of Nashville, Karl Dean, along with his staff from the Office of Neighborhoods stood at the newly opened Music City Center and issued a challenge to neighborhoods - a challenge to be greener, more involved and healthier.

The Mayor gives his message on the website, "I am asking neighborhood and community groups in Nashville to step up and show just how big an impact they can make on the livability of our community."

By visiting mayorsneighborhoodchallenge.com, neighbors will be able to create an account and fill in projects and activities surrounding these goals. With each project, communities will be awarded points. The deadline for entering is October 31, 2013, and all projects from January 1, 2013 will count toward the neighborhood's score.

The neighborhood with the most points in each category will receive an award, and there will be an award for Gold, Silver, and Bronze. For the neighborhood with the gold award (or highest number of points), the Healthy category winner will receive a healthy dinner, the neighborhood with the most points in the Green category will win trees to plant in the neighborhood, and for the Involved category, the community wins a block party. The winners of each category will be announced in November 2013.
