Chris Stokes-The Judges CHRISTOPHER B. STOKES A Mega-successful entrepreneur.
Chris Stokes began his career in music with the discovery of now mega-star Brandy.
A Los Angeles native, Stokes has been immersed in the music business since the age of seventeen. Known for his ingenuity behind chart-topping success stories such as multi-platinum selling groups “B2K” and “Immature” and solo artists “Omarion” (former lead singer of “B2K”) and Marques “MH” Houston (former lead singer of “Immature”/”IMX”), Stokes continues his meteoric rise in the music.
His own music label, TUG (The Ultimate Group) is developing hit artists and has signed their Pop boy group NLT with Jimmy Iovine at Geffen. They are already climbing the charts, and their album will be released mid-2008. Additionally, Marques Houston will be coming back under TUG in 2008.
The highly-anticipated Bow Wow and Omarion duet album was released under TUG/Columbia in December, and a new solo album from Omarion will come out from TUG/Columbia next summer.
Also in 2008, Stokes will release the soundtrack for Morgan Creek/Universal’s film Back Down through TUG/Atlantic Records. Involved in every step of the creative process with his artists, Stokes is an accomplished songwriter as well.
He has contributed to tracks for superstar groups Destiny’s Child, B2K, and Immature, and he has written with Omarion and Marques Houston on their solo projects, most recently working on the song “Baby Girl” for Omarion’s duet album with Bow Wow, “Face Off.” He contributed extensively to the tracks for his newest artists, including work on NLT’s new smash singles “That Girl” and “She Said, I Said.” Stokes continues to develop new artists under the TUG label, honing and polishing the brightest new stars.
Jane Doe is a new Urban girls group with a slate of new singles produced by T Pain. A new Pop girls group, Postergirls, was developed with Timbaland’s partnership, and is being shopped to a number of labels. Without a doubt one of the most influential players in R&B music, Stokes’ creative ventures extend well beyond his music roots. In 2003, Stokes made his feature writing/directing debut with the super successful “You Got Served.” That film surprised Hollywood, opening at #1 and continuing to dominate even in its 2nd weekend. “You Got Served” went on to gross more than $180 million worldwide in box office and DVD. Stokes has gone on to direct more than 150 music videos for artists on his label as well as artists from other labels, including the video for Omarion’s “Cut Off Time,” the lead single for the Jennifer Lopez-produced hit film Feel the Noise.
Chris Stokes recently shot the first two videos “Girlfriend” and “Hey Baby” for Omarion’s duet album with Bow Wow, Face Off, which was released in December 2007. Always looking to stretch himself as a film director, Stokes released the horror film “Somebody Help Me,” which stars Omarion and Marques Houston. “Somebody Helped Me” premiered in Hollywood in October 2007, and was released with CodeBlack Entertainment on DVD. Stokes’ next feature film will be Back Down, which he also wrote and will direct for Morgan Creek/Universal. Stokes’ latest venture has been the launch of Christopher Brian, a new high-end apparel line. Stokes is the creative director for the line since its inception, and it represents his vision for luxurious, beautiful clothes for men and women. Deemed “the brand for the million-dollar man,” the collection was a huge success at the MAGIC trade show in Las Vegas in 2007. Hundreds of celebrities packed Body English at the Hard Rock Hotel to launch the line which features Kim Kardashian as a celebrity spokesmodel. The collection will be available in select boutiques this year. You can see a preview of the collection at www.christopherbriancollection.com. Chris Stokes is the ultimate mogul.
