China Updates Brassiere Standard
China implemented an amended version of its industry standard for brassieres – FZ/T 73012 – on April 1, 2018.
- (1888PressRelease) April 21, 2018 - China has introduced a new version of its brassiere industry standard – FZ/T 73012. The 2017 iteration replaced the 2008 version on April 1, 2018.
FZ/T 73012-2017 applies to both warp-knitted brassieres and weft-knitted brassieres. It contains several technical changes, including:
• Adjustments to the description of the applied scope and normative reference
• Revisions to:
o Measuring positions for specification
o Requirements for formaldehyde content, pH value, odour and decomposable carcinogenic arylamines dyes
o Rules for re-inspection
• Addition of the provision – “the test items of formaldehyde content, pH value and odour are applicable to the filling materials of brassiere cup, and not applicable to latex, organic silica gel and mineral oil”
• Addition of:
o Test position of fiber content
o Rules for packaging, transportation and storage
o Given names of different brassiere locations
• Deletion of the following defect type in surface defects; “the instruction for use is incomplete, unclear and wrong” and deleted the rule of delivery inspection and type inspection
The latest version of the Industry Standard also includes the following tests:
• Internal quality: fiber content, formaldehyde content, pH value, decomposable carcinogenic arylamines dyes, odour, colorfastness to water, colorfastness to washing, colorfastness to rubbing, colorfastness to perspiration
• Apparent quality: specification deviation, size difference of symmetric parts and surface defects
The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology officially implemented FZ/T73012-2017 on April 1, 2018. Stakeholders are advised to check that their brassieres are compliant with the latest standards to ensure continued compliance.
