China Issues New Industry Standard for Knitted Garments Using Vegetable Dyes
A look at China’s new industry standard for knitted garments that use vegetable dyes – FZ/T 73065-2020.
- (1888PressRelease) January 09, 2021 - Manufacturers of knitted garments that are dyed using vegetable dyes are reminded that China has issued a new industry standard – FZ/T 73065-2020 – which came into effect on October 1, 2020.
Issued by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the standard applies to knitted garments that contain either:
• Only vegetable dyes
• Vegetable dyed knitted fabrics that account for 70% or more of the total area of the garment
Garments that use both vegetable and synthetic dyes must contain an area of 70+% vegetable dyes for the standard to be relevant.
The standard defines vegetable dyes as natural organic compounds that are extracted from roots, bark, stem, leaves, fruits, seeds of plants or vegetables, and can be used to dye fiber with a certain level of colorfastness.
FZ/T 73065-2020 covers a variety of requirements, including characteristic property requirement, appearance quality and internal quality.
