China Introduces New Product Standard for Bras
A look at China’s new product standard for one-piece and half-piece bras – FZ/T 73046-2020.
- (1888PressRelease) April 30, 2021 - China’s new product standard for one/half-piece bras – FZ/T 73046-2020 – came into effect on April 1, 2021.
The updated standard was released by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and included in No. 48 announcement of 2020’s approved industry standards. It replaces the previous iteration – FZ/T 73046-2013.
The standard applies to knitted one-piece and half-piece bras and contains provisions relating to internal quality and appearance quality. Changes in the updated standard include:
Additions:
• Cup code “H” and the difference between the bust girth and under bust girth
• Sample preparation
• Clause 5.2.5
Revisions:
• English name for the standard
• Normative references
• Definition and picture for one-piece bra
• Definition and picture for half-piece bra
• Bra sizing example
• Explanatory Chart of measuring position for one-piece bra
• Description of light for visual inspection
• Test method for air permeability of bra cup
• "The parts of the cup covered with other fabrics are not tested for blistering," changed to, "if some parts of the cup are covered with other fabrics, those parts are not tested for blistering"
Removed:
• Bra products with independent inserts – insert is not included in the air permeability test
• Original standard’s sewing rules
Stakeholders are advised to now check their products against the provisions in the updated standard.
