China Implements New RoHS Requirements on 12 Electrical and Electronic Products
Since November 1, 2019, manufacturers and importers of ‘First Batch’ EE products have had to conform to China’s new RoHS requirements.
- (1888PressRelease) December 06, 2019 - China has officially begun implementing its conformity assessment system under Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) for electrical appliances and electronic products.
From November 1, 2019, all electrical and electronic (EE) products listed in ‘The Standard Achieving Management Catalog (First Batch)’, and manufactured in, or imported into, China, must conform to these implementation regulations. This includes the following products:
• Refrigerators
• Air conditioners
• Washing machines
• Electric water heaters
• Printers
• Copiers
• Fax machines
• TVs
• Monitors
• Micro-computers
• Handheld phones for mobile communication
• Telephone sets
These products must now comply with the laid down content limit requirements for:
• Lead
• Mercury
• Cadmium
• Hexavalent chromium
• Polybrominated biphenyls
• Polybrominated diphenyl ethers
Businesses have two routes to compliance – voluntary certification or self-declaration.
When a company chooses voluntary certification, their EE product must be certified by a third-party certification body as compliant with the relevant standards and technical specifications in the RoHS legislation. Successful certification results can be viewed online at: “Public Service Platform for the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical Appliances and Electronic Product”.
Organizations that self-declare must submit to the public service platform a declaration of conformity and related technical documents that support the claim.
Whichever route is chosen, the product must display the appropriate label.
