China Implements First Product Standard for Silk Bedding
In September 2018, the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology implemented its first product standard for silk bedding.
- (1888PressRelease) January 25, 2019 - China officially implemented its new industry standard for silk bedding on September 1, 2018. The new standard, FZ/T 44004-2018, applies to bedding that is predominantly made from pure silk fabric or where the material has silk interwoven or blended to a level of more than or equal to 30%. It does not apply to products made for children or infants.
This is China’s first product standard for silk bedding. It contains technical requirements relating to:
• Internal quality – including fiber content, formaldehyde content, pH value, decomposable carcinogenic arylamines dyes, odor, breaking strength, seam slippage, pilling property, dimensional changes after washing, dimensional changes after dry cleaning and colorfastness (washing, dry-cleaning, water, perspiration, rubbing, and hot pressing)
• Appearance performance – including dimensional tolerance, skewness, mottled appearance, color difference and appearance defects
• Technical quality – including pattern quality, stitch quality, quilting quality, embroidery quality and sewing quality
