Children Honor and Help Mom for Mother’s Day at Clearwater Community Volunteers Center
The Clearwater Community Volunteers Center hosted Mother's Day Celebration to commemorate all of mom's love and care throughout the years.
- (1888PressRelease) May 17, 2019 - Clearwater, FL – On Saturday, May 11th, families converged on the Clearwater Community Volunteers (CCV) Center to Celebrate Mother’s Day. Children showed their appreciation for mom by serving her a meal just in time for the holiday which honors those who dedicate years of their lives to our upbringing.
The event began at the café-style gathering space of the CCV Center. Mothers mingled for a bit while their children – as young as 6 years old – went into the Center’s kitchen. While there, the children got a little help from volunteer and mother of one, Sabrina Ochoa to plate up a meal. The parents enthusiastically greeted their children as they emerged from the kitchen with plates full of food, which they carefully served to their parents.
One mom said “I was so surprised to see how willing the kids were to serve us! It made me proud to see them coming back and forth to serve other parents as well.”
After the meal Sabrina guided all the guests to the Way to Happiness Center one block away where she introduced them to the Way to Happiness program before showing the Love and Help Your Parents precept on film. The event was put on in partnership with The Way to Happiness Center.
The Way to Happiness is a non-religious moral code based on common sense and was authored by L. Ron Hubbard. In the Way to Happiness, he wrote “Children as indebted to their parents for their upbringing – if the parents did so. While some parents are so fiercely independent that they will accept no return on the obligation, it is nevertheless true that there often comes a time when it is the turn of the younger generation to care for their parents.”
The children also created gifts for their mothers and participated in a prize drawing.
Michael Soltero, Manager of the CCV Center said, “For over three decades the Clearwater Community Volunteers have been dedicated to helping children everywhere. Today, we paid tribute to the mothers who helped us as children. What Humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard wrote exemplifies the message of our event, ‘From a child’s point of view, parents are sometimes hard to understand. In spite of all, one must remember that they are the only parents one has…one should honor them and help them.’”
