- (1888PressRelease) January 16, 2011 - Green Broccoli LLC, a Chicago based company, recently launched an interactive story book app titled -"Tales of Panchatantra: The Lion and the Hare" for the iPad and iPhone devices. The story, which is an adaptation of the fable series Panchatantra, is targeted at children in the 2-10 years age group. The story is set in a contemporary setting, where the grandfather narrates the story to his grand kids.
The story is illustrated and presented in a manner to appeal to children. The app, which features two languages (English and Hindi), can either be played in auto mode with narration or in manual mode without narration. The child could also touch objects and animals on various pages to hear their sounds in the manual mode. The personalization feature of the book lets the user put the name of up to two children in the cover page of the book.
The mobile app market is growing and highly popular. The app market of Apple, for example, has grown to more than 300,000 apps in a short period of 3 years. There are many projections of the App store economics. According to one estimate by Booz Allen, a consulting firm, the app market is expected to generate $40B in annual revenues by 2014.
"With the advent of large format tablet devices, like the iPad, we think interactive books for kids will become a popular category for apps. We wanted to bring engaging and interactive story telling in the app market and thus Green Broccoli was born", said S Chandra, founder of Green Broccoli LLC. "We wanted to adapt the stories to make them most interesting to children. We thought about how we learnt these stories in our childhood and narration by grandparents came out as the clear choice", Mr Chandra said, explaining the style of presentation of the story.
